Brett’s family has been shaping Los Angeles real estate for over a century. His great-great-grandfather, Jacob Stern, amassed tens of thousands of acres in the nineteenth and early twentieth century, becoming one of the premier real estate developers of early Los Angeles. The family developed Hollywood’s first premier hotel, the Hollywood Plaza Hotel, and hosted the filming of the world’s first movie, The Squaw Man, on their five-acre estate at the now world famous corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. The residence is widely considered the birthplace of the movie industry and is currently preserved as a historic landmark. In the 1970’s the family was the largest developer of government housing on the West Coast, in the 1980’s co-founded and managed a successful multi-billion dollar commercial real estate investment fund and in 2006 created The International Investment Fund. Since the 1980’s, The Oppenheim Group’s primary purpose has been providing high-end brokerage services to the residents of Los Angeles.
